At Floyd Medical Center, we are focused on continually improving quality of care. It is part of our mission. As a Joint Commission accredited facility, we offer best practices in health care to maintain special certifications and accreditations. In addition, we use third-party vendors who use systems designed to assist hospitals in improving the quality of inpatient care and promoting medical excellence.
Patient Safety Award — No. 1 in Georgia and Top 10% in the Nation, Region and State in Overall Medical Care
Floyd Medical Center was awarded for being No. 1 in Georgia for Overall Medical Care for Patient Safety in 2022 by CareChex Awards by Quantros. Floyd has also been recognized as being in the Top 10% in the Nation, Region and State for Patient Safety in Overall Medical Care..

CareChex Awards by Quantros has recognized Floyd Medical Center in 2022 for being in the Top 10% in the Nation in Medical Excellence for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); and for being in the Top 10% in Georgia for Medical Excellence for bariatric surgery and major orthopaedic surgery.
In the area of Medical Excellence for Women's Health, Floyd Medical Center was awarded:

An analysis by Healthgrades has shown that patients treated at hospitals receiving a 5-star rating have a lower risk of death and a lower risk of experiencing one or more complications during a hospital stay than if they were treated at hospitals receiving a 1-star rating for that procedure or condition.
Polk Medical Center has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for 2021. The award recognizes the hospital's commitment to ensuring people with heart failure receive the most appropriate treatment. The hospital also received Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition.
The American Heart Association awarded Floyd Medical Center the Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for 2021. This is the fifth year the hospital earned Gold. Floyd Medical Center also received the association's Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award.
Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd has earned Hospice Honors recognition from HEALTHCAREfirst.
Hospice Honors is an award given to hospice providers that continuously provide the highest level of quality care and experience as measured from the point of view of a patient's caregiver.
Floyd Medical Center received designation as a Level II Emergency Cardiac Care Center by the Georgia Department of Public Health. This means that we offer effective cardiac care for patients suffering a heart attack and can quickly and safely transport patients needing a higher level of care to an appropriate facility. Our care for heart attacks includes cardiac catheterization and angioplasty procedures.
Floyd Medical Center is an accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) with Resuscitation by the American College of Cardiology. Our program offers integrated, evidence-based care, quality initiatives, clinical best-practices and the latest guidelines into caring for our cardiovascular patients.
Floyd Named to Forbes List of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2019
The
rankings are based on a survey of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people.
Floyd Health System employs over 3,200 people and serves a six-county area.
Employees were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to other job seekers. Participants also were asked to evaluate other employers either positively or negatively. In addition, participants were asked 35 questions about work-related topics such as working conditions, salary and potential for development.
Floyd Medical Center has been named a Georgia Safe to Sleep Hospital by the Georgia Department of Public Health, highlighting the hospital's continued commitment to infant safety.
Floyd Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was named Georgia Region One 2017 EMS Service of the Year by Northwest Georgia Emergency Medical Services. Northwest Georgia Emergency Medical Services is a collaboration between the Northwest Georgia EMS Advisory Council and the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma, Region 1, and represents 16 counties across northwest Georgia.
