Nursing Students

Nursing student placement programs are designed to provide clinical experience hours for students to develop practical skills that will enhance future health care careers and bridge the gap between formal education and practical work experience.

Nursing student placement programs consist of the following areas:

  • licensed practical nurse (LPN)
  • pre-licensure (ADN, BSN)
  • paramedic/EMT/LPN to RN bridge
  • graduate nursing (MSN and DNP)

Opportunities

Nurse Tech Program

Our Nurse Tech Program is an employment opportunity for nursing students who have successfully completed their first semester of nursing school. Nurse techs are paid employees who benefit from a flexible work schedule designed to ensure a healthy school/work balance, on-the-job training and an opportunity to learn more about Floyd.

Students interested in Nurse Tech I and II opportunities should visit the Atrium Health Floyd Nursing Careers Center for open positions (listed as Nurse Tech) and complete an online employment application.

Summer Nursing Internships (Nursing Students Only)

The Summer Nursing Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for nursing students to gain project-based learning experience.

Internships include:

  • Formalized structured goals to be achieved by the end of the internship
  • Weekly report of training and projects to be completed by the intern
  • Meetings with Atrium Health Floyd leaders across the organization to gain further understanding of the system and the many different career opportunities available
  • Critical skills training to support a successful internship

Apply for a Summer Nursing Internship

The Atrium Health Floyd Summer Nursing Internship Program application cycle begins in late spring.

Atrium Health Floyd provides internship opportunities for student nurses who have completed their junior year of a nursing degree and are rising seniors.

Our 6-7-week, paid summer program gives nursing students the opportunity to experience daily functions, activities, and processes under the guidance of specially trained nurses. We offer these experiences in a variety of clinical settings.

Requesting Student Placement

To be considered for a clinical rotation, there must be an active Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement (CEAA) on file between Atrium Health and your educational institution.

  • If you are unsure if your school has a current CEAA, check with your school clinical coordinator.
  • *New, first-time, CEAAs are reviewed for need and accepted on a case by case basis.
  • CEAAs can take weeks to months to execute. If your rotation needs to happen within six months of your request, we cannot guarantee rotation placement.
