What to Expect From Atrium Health Floyd Women’s Care

Our wide array of services includes:

Prenatal care. This includes routine prenatal visits, pregnancy and nutrition counseling, and expert support through labor, delivery and postpartum.

Childbirth classes and
birth center tours. Our maternity and childbirth classes can help you feel informed and supported as you prepare for the arrival of your new little one. Plus, visit the
Atrium Health Floyd Women's Care Family Birth Center for a detailed tour.

Breastfeeding support. Our board-certified lactation consultants can support your breastfeeding success before and after delivery for a more comfortable and positive experience.

Postpartum support groups. New moms will find tips, guidance and support in the safety of a non-judgmental group for the transition to their new life with baby.
Family Birth Center
In addition to pregnancy care and support, you’ll have seamless access to the
Atrium Health Floyd Family Birth Center and the area’s only
Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Our families get extra special treatment with private rooms, breastfeeding support and all the services a mom and baby could need – including neonatal intensive care -- in one place.

Maternity Classes
Maternity classes help you feel better prepared for childbirth and life with a new baby. The best time to take classes is between 24 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. You’ll learn about preparing for delivery, basics of breastfeeding, newborn safety and more.

Breastfeeding Support
Throughout your pregnancy journey, our board-certified breastfeeding experts are available to advise you in classes, group discussion or one-on-one, either in-person or by phone.
Visit our
outpatient lactation clinic for in-person help with breastfeeding. Here you’ll also find our Mommy Boutique where you may rent or purchase a breast pump, as well as shop for other breastfeeding products.

New Mom Support
As you navigate your new life with a newborn, we’re here to help you feel supported and bond with your baby.
Maternal Mental Health Virtual Support Group
Our support group promotes mental wellness and healthy adjustment after having a baby. All new moms searching for ways to cope with their recent changes are welcome to join.
Here you’ll find educational information, skill-building tips and support in a non-judgmental, caring space for those dealing with depression, anxiety, isolation or overwhelming feelings in their search for balance as a mother.

Join our closed Facebook group where you’ll find discussion on a variety of topics related to life with an infant. You can also meet and grow with other moms.
Open to first time and veteran moms, conversation topics are based on the needs of the group. A certified Lamaze instructor is available to help direct the conversation and provide evidence-based information when needed.
