Pastoral Care
The chaplains at Atrium Health Floyd are committed to providing emotional and spiritual support for patients, family members and hospital staff while respecting diverse religious traditions. Please feel free to contact them for prayer, help with emotional and spiritual concerns, or to just have someone to simply listen. They serve Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center and Atrium Health Floyd Cherokee Medical Center.
How Chaplains Can Help
As an essential part of the health care team, our chaplains are professionally trained to offer a variety of spiritual services. Chaplains may be a source of comfort and support when someone is needing:
- Spiritual guidance
- Prayer
- Comfort during a time of grief
- Celebration of a religious or spiritual occasion
- Additional help to contact regular clergy
- Assistance with difficult medical decisions
- Mediation for family meetings to discuss care
Chapel
The chapel offers a quiet place to pray, meditate or just be silent and is open 24/7. It is located on the second floor on the hall between the Emergency Care Center entrance and the Gift Shop. The chaplains office is next door.
Advance Directive
An advance directive is a legal document
that makes it clear what procedures a patient wants and doesn’t want,
and often focuses on end-of-life treatment. The directive also
spells out who can make decisions on behalf of a patient who can't
speak for himself/herself. Atrium Health Floyd's chaplains can help provide education
and assistance to fill out the forms. Visit our Advance Directive page.
Visiting Clergy
We encourage faith leaders and local clergy to visit
their members while they are patients at Floyd. Please review the
information on our Visiting Clergy page.
Contact
A chaplain is available and on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Chaplains can be contacted by calling the hospital operator or by asking your nurse or another member of the clinical staff.
