Caring for the communities we serve is a long-held value for Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic. When these organizations combined in 2024, one of the significant opportunities leaders quickly realized was the ability to take their shared resources into the community.

Together, Harbin Clinic and Atrium Health Floyd have nearly 6,000 teammates who have community relationships that are built on a history dating to 1865 for Harbin Clinic and 1942 for Atrium Health Floyd.

Long-standing Institutions Will Provide Integrated Health Care Services in Region

Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic, the region’s two longest-serving health care providers, finalized a long-anticipated strategic combination today, creating an integrated health care system.

Harbin Clinic is Georgia’s largest, privately-owned, multi-specialty physician group. Atrium Health Floyd is one of the largest providers of health care services in northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama. The two organizations will share governance and decision-making under the guidance of a board consisting of Harbin Clinic physicians and legacy board members of Floyd Healthcare Management Inc.

A Shared History of Caring

Harbin Clinic has been serving northwest Georgia for more than 150 years. Atrium Health Floyd has been in operation for more than 80 years. Now in our ninth decade of working together, our organizations likely have touched every family in our community beginning at life’s first breath.

Dr. Ryland Scott and Amy Braden have worked together for more than 20 years. “At the end of the day, we work together to create a unified system of care for the patient that seamlessly merges Harbin Clinic’s physician and surgeon expertise and Atrium Health Floyd’s expertise in nursing care, inpatient dietary care and surgical care.”

Dr. Robersteen Howard and Dr. Tyler Barnes share a passion for keeping kids healthy and supporting parents. Now they share the same mission as one team.

Lee Clevenger and Dr. Rahul Garg have been a dynamic duo in heart care for nearly two decades. They have expanded services and transformed the cardiac catheterization department at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center. Dr. Paul Brock and Aimee Griffin worked together to establish The Breast Center. “We designed The Breast Center to create a single point of entry for women to have mammograms, screening breast exams and diagnostic studies and within 24 hours be able to have the results of these studies to shorten the length of time they have from diagnosis to ultimate treatment options.”

Dr. Diana Vallecilla and Amelia Baker celebrate the strength of mothers. From navigating routine deliveries to the pressures of more complicated cases, these women share a strong work ethic and an unspoken understanding that has been built over years of collaboration and care.

Dr. Ed McBride and Tina Edwards have a work history that spans 25 years. “When I started my career with Floyd in 1999, I never expected that I would one day be serving in the role of Chief Medical Officer nor that I would have the opportunity to once again serve alongside Tina as we seek to provide care together now as one team.

Dr. Ayush Singh and Dr. Sam Quaynor are brain scientists. These gray-matter experts have a history of working together to make sure their patients receive the care they need when they need it, and now they are part of the same Atrium Health team.

Gia Pyles and Dr. Bennett Brock are on a mission together. “Gia makes us all more efficient. She pairs us with teams that allow us to get done the work that needs to be done in a safe and timely manner. You want to work in a place where you feel heard, comfortable, and you feel like you can come in and do your job efficiently. That is what Gia brings.”

Hunter Todd and Dr. Mark Floyd are teammates and Vikings.The goal is to get players back on the field as quickly and as safely as possible. That’s an approach that’s both good for the student and good for the team, the new teammates said.

Cindy Lewis and Dr. Henaro Sabino share a desire to get their patients home as quickly as possible. Being in the hospital is no fun, especially when you’re a kid. Dr. Sabino and Cindy work together to get their patients as healthy as possible so they can return – and thrive – at home

Chad Wilson and Dr. Chris Piller are a team on the sidelines and in the office. "Collaboration is key between the athletic trainer, the doctor, the coaches, the parents, of course, and the athlete. There’s this choreography that has to happen, and Chad is an excellent communicator, and he is wonderful at what he does in his athletic training."

Dr. Kathryn Carroll and Dr. Sylvia Washington work together to care for our youngest patients. Because they are moms these pediatricians understand both the joys and challenges of motherhood and the importance of regular checkups for kids and their parents.
