It’s important that you gradually and carefully increase your level of exertion as you recover from a cardiac event. such as a heart attack, heart surgery or treatment for heart failure. Our team of cardiologists, nurses and physical therapists will develop a personalized
cardiac rehabilitation plan and then closely monitor your activities as you recover to make sure you are making progress.
Our team of experts can help you
regain strength and manage pain you might be experiencing. Our goal is to keep you as independent as possible while decreasing side effects and symptoms. We can provide therapy in a fully equipped gym or in a smaller setting where you might feel more comfortable.
With age, problems with balance and dizziness become increasingly more common. This can affect your ability to walk, stand and even sit comfortably. More importantly,
balance disorders also increase your risk of falling, which can lead to even more serious health issues. To keep you active and healthy, our team of rehabilitation specialists will work with you to improve your balance and decrease your risk of falling.
If you’ve had an accident or surgery, or experience arthritis, nerve disorders or other issues that limit the use and mobility of your hands and arms, our
certified hand therapy specialists can help. Our goal is to help you get back to your normal activities as quickly as possible.
Our team of specially trained therapists can help make the transition to limb loss easier. Our therapists provide strength and cardiovascular training to help make you stronger while working on balance and motor skills to help you regain normal daily activities. If you need a prosthesis, we can make sure you are prepared and properly fitted.
Our comprehensive team, including speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and rehabilitation nurses, will develop a personalized
neurological rehabilitation plan of care and therapy to help you recover. Our goal is to help you recover and live as independently as possible.
After orthopedic surgery, we know you want to get back to normal activities as quickly as possible. That’s why we offer a full range of comprehensive
orthopedic therapy services to help you recover. Our therapists provide a specialized and individualized treatment plan so you can get back to doing the things you love.
Pelvic floor physical therapy targets muscles in the pelvis, or hip area, to help restore function and alleviate pain. Pain within the pelvis or lower back, leaking urine when you cough or sneeze, and back pain during pregnancy are a few of the issues that pelvic floor physical therapy can address.
Our outpatient pulmonary rehab program is designed for patients with respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The goal of treatment is to help individuals control symptoms, regain endurance and confidence, and improve their ability to perform daily activities. This program is offered in our outpatient clinic at Polk Medical Center.
Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, our
sports medicine program helps keep you healthy on and off the field. We offer the only program in our region with on-site physical therapy clinics and athletic trainers to help manage injuries admitted through our Emergency Care Center (ECC) or an Atrium Health Floyd Urgent Care.
Our licensed and certified athletic trainers provide quality health care for school athletes. We are skilled and experienced in helping athletes recover from injuries that can happen during physical activity, including joint injuries, tears and concussions.
A specialized form of therapy,
vestibular rehabilitation is intended to alleviate both the primary and secondary problems caused by vestibular disorders. The vestibular system includes those parts of the inner ear and brain that affect balance and eye movement.
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability and/or imbalance and falls.
