Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes often causes a loss of feeling and poor blood flow in the feet -- two problems that make it difficult to notice when an infection or ulcer is developing.

Individuals with diabetes should receive foot care checkups at least every 60 days. These checkups are covered by Medicare.

The trained staff of our diabetes clinic and wound care clinics help with the following to help reduce the sources of friction, which can cause ulcers and fungal infections:

  • remove calluses
  • cut toenails
  • provide education on proper foot care
  • provide diabetic foot wear prescriptions
