Dr. Keerthy Krishnamani Earns Award of Excellence

08.02.2021

Keerthy Krishnamani, M.D., Executive Medical Director of Floyd Primary Care, has earned a prestigious award for excellence given each year by the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP).

Dr. Krishnamani was a family physician with the Henry Ford Health System and president of the MAFP prior to coming to Floyd.

The “Archie" Award of Excellence recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves by their service to the Academy, the family medicine specialty, their patients, and their community. The award is named for the late Dr. Archie Bedell, a past president of the MAFP.

In Michigan, Dr. Krishnamani served in a variety of family medicine roles, including at outpatient primary care clinics, a rehabilitation facility, on inpatient hospital service, and in urgent care. He was also a physician leader at Henry Ford Health System, overseeing three primary care clinics, and he was an associate clinical professor and family medicine preceptor at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

The latter part of Dr. Krishnamani's 2019-2020 MAFP presidential term coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this unprecedented time, he provided exemplary leadership amidst the uncertainty and ever-changing family practice and non-profit management environments.

Under his leadership, MAFP was vigilant in sharing up-to-date pandemic information with members, providing educational resources, facilitating connections in new ways, and working with partners across the state and country to preserve the practice of family medicine.

Founded in 1948, Michigan Academy of Family Physicians is the state's largest specialty physician association, with more than 4,200 members who serve primary healthcare needs in Michigan.
